I finally got a real cronut!
After spending what seems like a ridiculous amount of time creating my own, I have finally tried an authentic Dominique Ansel Cronut!
It’s been 2 years since the cronut was born, and I still had to wait an hour in line to get one. Yes folks, there is still a cronut line! They still sell out just a few minutes after opening. They still limit how many you can purchase. I couldn’t believe it.
And after all my waiting, all my tests and baking experiments, I’ve got to say, Dominique Ansel makes a damn good cronut, but it’s really damn sweet! The texture is perfect, he is a pastry genius, but I’ve knocked that one off my bucket list and if a cronut craving ever strikes again, I’ll be more than happy with the recipe I created at home.
Wanna see my homemade cornet journey? It’s right here…
